“Stockyard Food and Spirits” is a name well known on the Brighton landscape. What began
in 1970 as a small local steak house, where neighbors would go to socialize, has grown into one of the area's
most respected and frequented, quality establishments on Boston's outskirts.
Although the history of the Stockyard spans for almost 40 years, it has never lost its welcoming and neighborly
atmosphere.
Today we continue the tradition that began in 1970...
Our History
The Stockyard restaurant concept became a reality when the late Cornelius (Neil) Manning and his wife, Lillian, purchased a parcel of the land adjacent to the old yards where cattle were penned before being sent to the slaughter house.
Neil Sr. built The Stockyard, both the concept and the building, from scratch, and in just a few years, he and Lillian transformed the restaurant into a regional fixture. Though the cattle operation has long since become just a memory, and Neil (Sr.) has since passed away, his sons--Mark and Neil (Jr.)--work hard to carry on their parents' traditions and expand upon their concept. The stockyards live on through the Manning family.
